Doctor on Demand, Butterfly, GoodRx and Headspace Among Companies Selected by Expert Judges from Mayfield Fund, the American Medical Association & More
October 1, 2019 -- SAN FRANCISCO, CA -- UC San Francisco’s Health Hub, an innovation hub and startup studio supporting the next wave of healthtech entrepreneurs, announces the second round of finalists for the upcoming UCSF Digital Health Awards. This unique awards event will celebrate the achievements of innovative companies dramatically improving healthcare with technology.
The finalists were selected across 13 categories by an unmatched team of expert judges in the healthcare and VC industries, including Daniel Kraft (Singularity University), Ursheet Parikh (Mayfield Fund), Blake Wu (NEA), Michael Roizen (Cleveland Clinic), Michael Blum, MD (UCSF), Michael Lesh, MD (UCSF) and Dan Burnett, MD (Theranova) among others. Ten finalists per category were chosen from more than 500 submissions.
“These semi-finalists companies represent 8% of the submissions we received and really are the best of the best and represent the future of health,” said Mark H. Goldstein, Chairman of the UCSF Health Hub and General Partner at venture capital firm Builders VC.

Submissions were open to qualified, mature healthtech companies with in-market products that have been used by thousands of patients and have been verified in a validation study or clinical trial.
Marketing collaborators include Matthew Holt, founder of Health 2.0, leading healthcare nonprofit HIMSS, Rock Health, Startup Health, UCSF Innovation Ventures, Builders VC and Red Crow, as well as the American Medical Association’s Physician Innovation Network and J.P Morgan Chase.
