April 21, 2020

15 award categories announced, including 3 for best COVID digital health solutions, and more.

APRIL 21, 2020 -- SAN FRANCISCO, CA -- UC San Francisco’s Health Hub, an innovation hub and startup studio supporting the next wave of healthtech entrepreneurs, announced the award categories for the upcoming UCSF Digital Health Awards 2020. This unique awards event will celebrate the achievements of innovative companies who are dramatically improving healthcare with technology.

UCSF Digital Health Awards is an initiative to honor the best in digital health technology, who are transforming the way healthcare will be delivered tomorrow. The objective is simple- felicitating and spreading awareness for selected, cutting-edge technologies, so that they can have an even broader reach to better people’s lives and decrease healthcare costs.

After the phenomenal success of the 1st edition of the awards held last year- where winners across 15 categories were selected among 500+ applicants by a team of 100+ judges- the event promises to be even bigger for its second edition this year.

This year, the award will honor innovations across 15 selected categories that include: Top 3 COVID digital health solutions, consumer wellness, consumer prevention, mental and behavioral health, telemedicine, new application of AI, new EHR advance, remote diagnostics, hospital/clinical diagnostics, patient saving, employer wellness, best of UCSF, and UCSF Health Awards Hall of Fame.

Applications will begin on June 1, 2020 and they will be evaluated by an unmatched panel of expert judges from healthcare and venture capital industries, including Vinod Khosla (Khosla Ventures), Ursheet Parikh (Mayfield Fund), Blake Wu (NEA), Michael Roizen (Cleveland Clinic), Michael Blum, MD (UCSF), Michael Lesh, MD (UCSF) and Dan Burnett, MD (Theranova) among others. Winners across these categories will be announced and honored at a live event planned on September 23, 2020 at 6:00 pm PT at the  UCSF Mission Bay campus, and will also be streamed live.

"Technology has become an integral part of any conversation about improving the physical and mental health of millions,” said Mark H. Goldstein, Chairman of the UCSF Health Hub and Partner at venture capital firm Builders VC. “We hope that shining a spotlight on these companies who are making unbelievable strides in this space will further the conversation on healthtech and bring these solutions to the mainstream, so that doctors can do their jobs better and patient care can continue to be improved across the board.”

“Promoting the winners will lead to people getting more comfortable experimenting with the best of the best, most novel and winning products and services, to make the promise of the digital health revolution a strong reality. We hope that the Digital Health Awards can help speed the trajectory of adoption and make a difference,” he added.
