Problem Tech Solves

Tech Brief

Remote patient monitoring (RPM) has grown steadily in the past few years, and has accelerated with the COVID-19 pandemic. Yet, the development and deployment of RPM applications continue to be hindered by a lack of an integrated platform that removes the challenges of integrating with diverse medical wearables while ensuring data integrity and continuity from remote locations to the cloud. Vivalink’s Biometrics Data Platform solves this problem for the medical wearables enabled RPM market by integrating FDA/CE cleared medical wearables, remote networking technologies, and advanced cloud services, into a turn-key platform for virtually any type of healthcare application or therapeutic area.

Tech Differentiators

The Biometrics Data Platform is the first real-world evidence-based data platform with an open architecture, is application agnostic, sensor agnostic, algorithm agnostic, and can be used in any setting. In a way, the Biometrics Data Platform is the “Amazon Web Services” of virtual healthcare - an integrated sensor, edge, cloud, and data services platform designed for rapid healthcare application deployments. The company’s deep knowledge on sensor data processing, data analytics as well as advanced cloud technology, makes it the best company to provide such a platform. It is the only platform addressing the challenges healthcare and pharmaceutical research companies face in finding a turn-key solution that has data capture technology, edge-to-cloud integration, and advanced algorithms all in one platform. The platform is able to accelerate pharma industry time-to-market by removing the development and regulatory complexities associated with wearable sensors, edge networks, data integration, and data analytics. Consequently, it lowers development costs which allows faster results for providers and patients using remote care and those awaiting virtual clinical trials data. It also facilitates physician and hospital system use by reducing the complexity of integrating multiple sensor devices to attain viable data. The ability to amalgamate data streams to empower machine learning promotes more proactive care with reduced time and expense for both acute and chronic conditions. Ultimately, access to data-based insights provides researchers and physicians with better information to improve patient care.

Validation

3,000 Patient, 10 Year Study on Biomarkers of Early Atrial Transformation - University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) is usingVivalink’s continuous wearable ECG sensor for a 3,000 subject multi-year study on atrial fibrillation (AF). Spanning up to 10 years, the study aims to detect biomarkers of early atrial transformation in AF. Remote Monitoring of Oncology Patients post Chemotherapy for Neutropenic Fever - The study will be led by investigators at UCLA Jonsson Comprehensive Cancer Center. 80 cancer patients undergoing outpatient intermediate-risk chemotherapy regimens will use Vivalink's continuous temperature monitor. AstraZeneca’s Digital Patient Solutions and Devices Sensors Groups is currently completing phase one of its Heart Bus cardiac study (50 subjects at one site in Sweden over 12 months) using Vivalink’s sensors and platform. Over the next three years, 200 patients in Sweden will take part in the in-depth research study of HFpEF. The study will shed new light on different subtypes of HFpEF and use the results to help guide patients to the type of care they need. Medpace, a leading clinical contract research organization, is undergoing an enterprise-wide, multi-site decentralized clinical trial using Vivalink’s platform. Vivalink and Medpace began working together in 2021 and most recently received new contracts from Medpace in the first half of 2022 for future trials in vitals data capture. Medpace chose Vivalink due to its turnkey data service from sensor to cloud, sensor capabilities, multi-site data consolidation and data integrity.
