Problem Tech Solves

In emergency medicine, ideally, the most urgent cases should be diagnosed and treated first. It’s impossible to know which cases are most urgent until they’ve been diagnosed. Aidoc flags critical abnormalities in medical images, ensuring that the most urgent cases are triaged, examined, diagnosed and treated faster, aiding doctors in saving lives. Life-threatening time-critical conditions, such as pulmonary embolism, intracranial hemorrhage, large-vessel occlusion and cervical spine fractures, can be flagged as urgent before the patient has even left the imaging room, resulting in much faster treatment and better healthcare outcomes.

Tech Brief

Aidoc’s solutions use artificial intelligence to flag critical abnormalities on CT scans. A flagged scan can be prioritized directly in the imaging workflow. Aidoc’s AI solutions take just seconds to run. Aidoc has very high accuracy, focusing on common, acute findings to ensure maximum utility. The company is committed to improving efficacy and patient outcomes, with broad impact on key metrics such as turnaround time and length of stay. Aidoc’s new pulmonary embolism and stroke care coordination suites also provide notifications across the entire medical imaging workflow, including a phone-based app to notify and activate care teams for faster treatment and improved efficiency.

Tech Differentiators

Aidoc is the first AI product to be cleared for the flagging of incidental findings in CT scans, making it a valuable tool for routine imaging as well as emergency medicine. The most seamless AI integration, Aidoc, flags a range of different critical conditions – many other AI radiology offerings only flag one or two conditions – as it offers a whole-body AI solution. Aidoc’s AI orchestrator was built to overcome a myriad of AI-specific orchestration challenges including data inconsistencies (DICOM header), missing information (contrast, timing, and kernels), time zones, non-standard DICOMs and more. Addressing these challenges, at scale, with multiple AI modules running on each case is key to providing a clinically valid AI solution.

Validation

In studies presented at scientific conferences and published in journals, using Aidoc has been shown to be associated with faster diagnosis times, faster turnaround times and shorter hospital lengths of stay for critical cases. A less dry validation comes from seeing the solution in action. An elderly woman had a routine outpatient CT in a Brazilian radiology center. The low-priority scan would likely have waited several days before being reviewed by a radiologist. Aidoc flagged an intracranial hemorrhage within minutes of her imaging, enabling the staff to reach her and refer her onwards for urgent medical treatment.

Why Us

In building a radiology AI that’s comprehensive, accurate and easy to use, Aidoc is showing real impact in hundreds of medical centers around the world, making AI into the new standard of care for medical imaging.
